About

So you want to know about the APU Battle of Hackers 2020, eh? It's a CTF.
Here, have a haiku:

You solve challenges,
pwn n own all teh boxes,
submit flag for win.

YES, the haiku was meant to be read like that
NO, those are not mistakes, it was meant to be read like that
MAYBE, did you ever consider it was meant to be read like that?

Why a CTF?

  • Learn new things and gain MOAR skillz
  • Have fun
  • Make new friends

  • It's a CTF. What else did you expect?
Why else would a CTF exist?
Any other meaning to a CTF is simply... incomprehensible.

Rules

The veterans already know the rules. If you're new blood, the rules are simple. Follow the following rules, or risk disqualification. No funny business!

Cheating

Share no flags or hints with other teams. Yes, that includes the team with the pretty girl next to you...

Attacking the Scoreboard

You don't attack the CTF infrastructure, it just isn't done. If you find a bug or vuln, please report it to the CTF staff.

Sabotage

No modifying passwords, modifying/deleting flags, or attacking something out of the CTF scope, that's a big no-no.

Bruteforcing

No bruteforcing. Pretty straightforward, innit? In any case, you won't find flags by bruteforcing the CTF scoreboard. Note: it's said "the CTF scoreboard". Challenges are fair game.

Denial of Service

There has been no CTF in the history of CTFs that required a challenge to be solved via DoS, so this should never be done, against anything, during a CTF.
